Gelatin can be used to create simple one-time use prosthetics if it isn't against the model or makeup artist's beliefs. It is quick and easy to use so can make prosthetics in times when they're against the clock.
Silicone can be used to create multiple pieces using the same mould for continuity purposes.
Latex can be used for simple SFX including wrinkles and scarring when time isn't in their favour.
Overall, it would be more professional to use silicone within the industry as the prosthetics created with it are long-lasting and easier to recreate for continuity. Silicone also doesn't go against people's ethical beliefs as it isn't created from animal products.
