Introduction
A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comedy play written by William Shakespeare, it is believed to be part of his early work written.
Although this play is a comedy, there is a tragedy within it. There is also the theme of children rebelling against their parents and 2 families united through the love of their offspring.
Within the play, Shakespeare writes in 2 different tones. He switches between tragedy and comedy very quickly. The comedy is also not empty of meaning and does still provide information within the wider story.

Although the relationships between all the different characters look complicated they can be simplified to friendship, family and the use of love positions. There is one that is a bit different, this is the relationship between Puck and Nick Bottom. Puck turns Nick into a donkey within the play.
Plot Summary
The plot of the play sees four young Athenians run away to the forest only to have Puck the mischievous fairy make both of the boys fall in love with the same girl. The four Athenians run through the forest pursuing each other while the fairy helps his master play a trick on the fairy queen. In the end, Puck eventually reverses the magic, and the two couples reconcile and marry.
