On Thursday 20th of May, we spent most of the day preparing for the opening night of Little Shop of Horrors. At First we only did the performers hair as the makeup would have melted off them due to the lighting and heat of the stage (which is shown in a couple of the above). During this day, I had done the makeup and hair for the character of Seymour.
Before the night, I also had to prepare by finding out where the venue was and how i would get there. I found at that there was a bus running at 9.34 am which allowed me to get the the venue early and that there was a bus at 9.15pm allowing me to get home quickly at the end of the night. The image below shows
Throughout the day, we as a team maintained professionalism by wearing dark/ black clothing so that we wouldn't be seen backstage by the audience and that makeup spillages are less likely to show up. We all also made sure our makeup bay was tidy and organised which made it easier to grab the products we desire to use
Through the day, I adhered to all the health and safety precautions that were put in place. This includes a tidy makeup bay, allowing the performer to walk around or go to the bathroom if they need and wearing a mask to stop the spread of Covid-19.
There were a couple problems that were solved as the performer had not had a hair cut like they stated they would and product was needed on his ears as his skin tone was too pale for the stage. Another problem was that we had to adapt the makeup as the stage was larger then we originally anticipated but the audience was slightly smaller. This meant that we had to make sure that the makeup was at an adequate standard for a live performance while keeping the talent happy and comfortable as well as making sure it could be seen by the audience from the back and the front of the stage.
Unfortunately, on the first night we were not given the option to watch the show but we had an idea at what lighting would be used so we added bronzer to the clients so that they would look like they had a warm skin tone under the stage lighting but wouldn't look orange in natural lighting
